Horseshoes and Handprints are a friendly team of staff and volunteers who between them offer a wide range of experience and qualifications in many different aspects of working with horses, special needs and therapy work.
Our therapy was originally aimed particularly at those dealing with autistic spectrum disorders but we have found it helps many others including
Autistic Spectrum Disorders /Aspergers/ ADHD
Neurological Disorders/ Functional Neurological Disorder
Bullying / exclusion from school
Emotional and behavioural issues
Depression, anxiety and anger
Confidence and self esteem
Cerebral Palsy /Downs Syndrome
These conditions always affect the entire family and for this reason we really like to have Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, and carers attend the sessions.
Siblings can often feel left out and frequently show a variety of signs of stress. Parents are almost inevitably overworked, physically and mentally exhausted and often struggling with their relationships as they try to cope.
We also work regularly with individual young people or groups who come as part of their school or college curriculum, who have problems adapting to and learning within a typical school system.
